Care Review
Personal debriefing is a really wonderful tool that can aid us in times of stress and transition as it can bring clarity to experiences, thoughts, and emotions. It can also really help to dialogue with someone else though, as you reflect on what’s going on in life. When we do this with someone who’s connected with member care in general, this processing has the additional benefit of being a way to connect individuals to additional needed resources.
We really want to encourage our staff to go through debriefing like this regularly, but we realise this isn’t available to everyone at the same level. To combat this, Create Labs has developed a questionnaire spanning the following categories: physical, psychological, social, and spiritual wellbeing. All Create staff can access the form, and use it as a tool for self-reflection.
Additionally, once a staff member has completed the form, Create Labs will contact them to discuss if they would like to meet with someone for a wellness check-in conversation. This conversation is had with a “carer” – someone who is actively involved in member care who will help process the information in the form. It is our goal that Create Staff will have a number of these carers to choose from.
If the staff person so desires, once a carer has been chosen, they will email the staff member to schedule a 70-minute consultation. This time will be used to discuss confidentiality and its limits, review the findings of the care review form by processing how the staff member answered, and work out action steps for going forward.
